Our friend Tony Aspler has just received the Order of Canada.
As his friends from 680 News write, "Tony has spent many years profiling and educating Canadians about wines. He has traveled the world, bringing home to Canada new wines he has tasted on his tours. He is the author of numerous books, including his most recent The Definitive Canadian Wine & Cheese Cookbook and The Wine Atlas of Canada.
The Order of Canada is the centerpiece of Canada’s honour system and recognizes a lifetime of outstanding achievement, dedication to the community and service to the nation. The Order recognizes people in all sectors of Canadian society. Their contributions are varied, yet they have all enriched the lives of others and made a difference in our country. Any person or group is welcome to nominate a deserving individual as a candidate for appointment to the Order of Canada, with the average number of nominations between 700 – 800 per year."
