Juste un petit commentaire (en anglais) envoyé hier chez Decanter, suite à un article consacré à Cos d'Estournel.
Cos d'Estournel (photo Thomas Pusch). Who cares if it's first or second growth?
"According to Decanter's latest poll, a majority of readers do not care about the classification system; so the fact that Cos is not a Premier Cru Classé is irrelevant. Maybe if we, wine writers, stopped talking about ranks and classifications (all the more so as they are so pointless), we could give each wine more chance to shine for its own merits.
As for the prices... well, these famous Bordeaux are all too expensive when you know the costs of production, speculation is the key factor.
So maybe the press should write more about less famous wines with better (or simply normal) price-pleasure relation."
